Carlotta de Bellis
Carlotta de Bellis is a 2025 graduate of the Master of Architecture program at the Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania. Born in Naples, Italy, she has lived and worked across Italy, France, and the United States, and holds a BA in Art History and Communication from Trinity University. Entering Penn without a prior background in architecture, she brings to the discipline a deep respect for history, an eye for design, and a commitment to public life.
Her work is grounded in a preservation sensibility—shaped early on by a fascination with how historic buildings adapt to contemporary life. In her final capstone studio in the Historic Preservation department, she collaborated with the Friends of the Tanner House in North Philadelphia on space planning diagrams and a preservation statement for their RFP, as well as made several models to support community-led revitalization for the neighborhood.
At Penn, she engaged in several interdisciplinary studios and classes and research spanning architecture, landscape, and city planning, including work on capacity-building initiatives for migrant-led associations in Sicily and a public design charrette proposing alternatives to the proposed 76ers arena in Philadelphia. She has served as a teaching assistant in both undergraduate and graduate studios, and held student government leadership roles, most recently as Co-President. In 2025, she was awarded the SARA PA Student Grant for her leadership.
