Ke-An Chiang

Ke-An Chiang is a Master of Science student in Historic Preservation at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Architectural Conservation. Raised in Taiwan and formerly an architectural designer, she is passionate about the intersection of architectural materials, traditional building technologies, and the impact of natural disasters and environmental change.
In April 2025, she presented her thesis research—focused on graffiti removal from historic brick using micro-abrasive cleaning methods—at the Association of North American Graduate Programs in Conservation (ANAGPIC) conference. Her work reflects the continued interest in minimally invasive cleaning techniques in conservation.
In summer 2024, Ke-An interned at Hennebery Eddy Architects, where she contributed to rehabilitation projects for the National Park Service and Oregon State Parks, and supported research into wildfire and disaster risk management strategies for preserving existing buildings.
Additionally, her historical research contributed to the successful nomination of the University of Pennsylvania's Greenfield Intercultural Center to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in February 2025. These experiences during her graduate studies have deepened her commitment to and enthusiasm for all aspects of preservation practice.
