Khulan Enkhbold
Khulan Enkhbold is a researcher and urban planner committed to advancing equitable and inclusive urban development. Originally from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Khulan graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto with a double major in Human Geography and Urban Studies and a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She is currently completing her Master of City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design, specializing in Housing, Community, and Economic Development.
At Penn, Khulan’s research focuses on land rights, redevelopment, and displacement in informal settlements, particularly Ulaanbaatar’s Ger areas. Her work has been recognized through awards such as the American Association of University Women’s International Fellowship and the University of Toronto Excellence Award for independent research. In addition to her academic work, Khulan has served as Internal Partnerships Lead for the Wharton-Weitzman Future of Cities Conference and worked as a Research Assistant for the McHarg Center for Urbanism, the Transportation Department at the Weitzman School, and the Healthcare Management Department at the Wharton School.
Throughout her academic and professional journey, Khulan has combined rigorous research with a passion for community-driven solutions, emphasizing policies that protect and empower vulnerable urban communities. She remains dedicated to bridging research, policy, and action to create more just cities.
