Maria Fairchild
Maria is a Master of Landscape Architecture graduate at the University of Pennsylvania. Raised in Bellingham, Washington, she grew up exploring the rugged coast, old-growth cedar forests, and alpine lakes of the Pacific Northwest. Before pursuing her MLA, Maria earned a degree in biology and worked in public gardens, where she developed a deep appreciation for plant communities and ecological systems. At Weitzman, her work has focused on the transformation of post-industrial landscapes, ecological restoration, carbon sequestration, flooding, and coastal resilience. As a designer, she is most inspired by the integration of ecology and urbanism, crafting public spaces that reflect the layered histories of a site while preparing them for the environmental challenges of the future.
