Miranda Ayres

Miranda is a designer & planner with a Masters of City Planning and a concentration in Urban Design. Having worked at the City of Philadelphia and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia prior to coming to Penn, her interest in the intersections between community development, health, and urban spaces strengthened her work in design and resiliency. Miranda completed an internship at Interface Studio, working on a neighborhood plan for Strawberry Mansion in Philadelphia. She was a marketing lead for the annual Wharton School & Weitzman School of Design Future of Cities Conference, and active in the Wharton-Weitzman Real Estate Club.

Miranda is particularly interested in reimaging public spaces that no longer have a sustainable use, like industrial waterfronts, rail yards, and outdated infrastructure and transforming them to public spaces that cities need. She is inspired by the concept of urban joy and how the public realm can overlap between sustainability planning, economic development, and community engagement. In her free time she loves to spend time in Schuylkill River Park, reading a book and falling asleep in the Adirondack chairs.
