Ruoxi (Sherry) Li

Ruoxi (Sherry) Li holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies from the University of Hong Kong. At Penn, she actively experiments across disciplines, exploring the intersection of architecture with structural design, sustainability, healthcare environments, and multi-scalar spatial strategies. Her design approach is grounded in site-specificity and a deep sensitivity to human experience.
Sherry is particularly passionate about the relationship between architecture and the performing arts. In her third-year studio, she collaborated with her classmates to co-write, direct, and stage a multimedia performance about the flooding of the Seine River, using it as a lens to explore environmental issues. Her thesis project, Staging Spaces: City as Theater, investigates how theatricality can transform high-density urban streets into performative public spaces that engage with contemporary social concerns. Her work consistently seeks to bridge architectural practice with cultural expression and collective storytelling.
Outside the studio, Sherry has been an active member of Penn Chinese Theater since her first year and served as co-president in her final year. She contributed to the production and management of six plays, where she enjoyed the creative process and grew through every challenge.
