Penn Today published a fun article about the paths that some faculty have taken to facilitate remote learning. In the article two Weitzman faculty members were featured, David Gouverneur (Landscape Architecture), Megan Ryerson (City and Regional Planning) and David Leatherbarrow (Architecture).
David is quite animated, we are used to seeing him in the hallways of Meyerson during critique marking up everyone’s large plotted prints. It is always fun to watch his reviews! It is refreshing to see that David hasn’t stopped his markings- he is just doing it remotely by using Zoom’s ‘annotate’ feature that allows you to not only share your screen but also allows multiple people to mark it. The finished product almost looks like a piece of art in and of itself!
Also getting creative is Megan Ryerson who has been inviting her students to her family dinner table every night- remotely of course! For her it has been a way to not lose connection and allows for them to still exchange ideas ‘in-person’.
Lastly, David Leatherbarrow has turned his personal home into a library for his current students. His personal book collection contains around 7,000 books and while Penn’s physical libraries are closed David has been lending his books to his students by leaving them in a brown bag outside of his door.
One thing is for certain, our Weitzman faculty are not letting this virus get in the way of their teaching!
