Liz teaches a section of the Preservation Studio for second-year students. In addition to her work at Penn, Liz is the Associate Director of Historic Preservation, Facilities & Trade Programs at Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site -- an abandoned prison now used as a criminal justice museum in Philadelphia. Since 2018, Liz has been involved at all levels of preservation planning for the 11-acre National Historic Landmark, from ongoing maintenance to major stabilization and restoration campaigns. Liz also manages the Preservation Trades Center at Eastern State, a two-pronged initiative to engage communities underrepresented in the building trades in paid, on-the-job preservation training while forging connections to long-term careers in the construction sector.
Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania where she was awarded The Anthony Nicholas Brady Garvan Award for an Outstanding Thesis and the Faculty Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
