The Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC) and PennDesign have established the Muscoe Martin Green Building Fellowship for a student in the Ecological Architecture Certificate or the Master of Environmental Building Design programs to pursue research and projects that advance green building and sustainable design. The fellowship was announced at a reception of AiA's Committee on the Environment (COTE) held at PennDesign May 19 in conjunction with the AiA Convention.
Muscoe Martin, AIA LEED Fellow was a founding board member of the DVGBC, a chair of COTE, a member of the USGBC Board and Sustainable Buildings Industry Council, a long-time LEED faculty member, and a lecturer at PennDesign for nearly 20 years, where he helped establish the program in Ecological Architecture and Environmental Building Design.
PennDesign students will be invited to apply for this opportunity in December and the fellowship will run for 4-8 months, depending on the project. Applications will be reviewed by a jury of Penn and DVGBC representatives, with one project selected each year. Research focus areas include, but are not limited to: bioclimatic building design; low carbon development; sustainable infrastructure; and green building policy.
Fellows will work in DVGBC's office with direct support from DVGBC's executive director and board of directors, as well as Penn faculty. A final presentation of the fellow's work will be presented in a public seminar.
