Profile
Sophie Auger is an artist, designer and educator from Tiohtià:ke/Montreal based in Brooklyn. Her work in video installation, publication, hacking, photography and blockchain experiments relies heavily on collaboration; she seeks out and connect with other hardware and software amateurs. Their collective non-expertise allows for mistakes, purposefully defective slow-tech, and surprising interdisciplinary relationships.
Aside from most recently working as a designer with 2x4, Sophie is adjunct faculty at Rutgers University, where she graduated with an MFA and was awarded the Giza Daniels-Endesha Award for Outstanding Performance in Art & Design. Additionally, she has taught experimental technology classes at The New School, School of Visual Arts and Index Space in New York. Her works have been recently shown in Quebec at ELEKTRA, La Chambre Blanche, Art Mûr, and Gham & Dafe, and at the Helsinki Contemporary Art Center in Finland.
