Long before completing my undergraduate education, I always wanted to pursue a Master of Architecture degree from Penn. I was fascinated by both the variety of faculty at Penn and the work that students produced.
The electives at Penn gave me the chance to explore interests outside the studio. I learned about the agency of nature and its relationship to architecture in the Immersive Kienamtic elective. I worked with a team of fellow students to reimagine the design of a standard concrete wall panel in the Next-Gen Precast Concrete elective. The panel was later produced by a concrete factory in New Jersey. From that experience, I learned about the different stages of designing and producing concrete panels. In the Digital Fabrication elective, I had the chance to design a desk and chair and submit my design for the Tangen Hall Furniture Competition. The weekly design critique I received from the instructor truly transformed my design and later resulted in me winning the competition. The desk and chair were then fabricated by a local CNC shop and currently sit in Tanen Hall. In summary, the electives I took at Penn helped expand my horizon.
