Andrew Emmett Knop

Andrew is an economic development professional interested in equitable economic development, community-led development, and more responsible real estate development practices. Formerly an accounting & finance professional in St. Louis, Andrew was inspired by his time serving on the board of the neighborhood improvement association in the Shaw neighborhood of St. Louis. This experience motivated him to return to school to study urban planning. Andrew will be graduate in May from Penn's Master of City Planning program, with a concentration in Housing, Community & Economic Development. During his time at Penn, Andrew has produced with classmates a plan for the Lehigh Avenue East corridor of Philadelphia, a revitalization strategy for the East Parkside Commercial Corridor of Philadelphia, and the Grays Ferry Plan for Advocacy. For a year, Andrew has been a Development Incentives Intern at St. Louis Development Corporation, the city's economic development agency. In this role, Andrew has worked to modernize the agency's databases; produce tools and analyses on the City's use of incentives so as to promote transparency and accountability; and track key metrics as laid out by St. Louis' Equitable Economic Development Framework. Andrew is excited to work towards a more equitable future for all people in cities.
