Başak Şıklar

Basak was born and raised in the beautiful university city of Eskisehir, Turkey. After earning her BSc degree in Civil Engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul, she came to Weitzman for her MSc in Historic Preservation. Her work at the Preservation program at Weitzman had a broad range from investigating building pathologies to contributing to the preservation of Civil Rights sites. As a future preservation engineer, she cares deeply about the cultural heritage of the 20th century and her research focuses on the intersection of climate change, energy efficiency and modern monuments of architecture.
