Dairong Qiu

I majored in Architecture in undergraduate study. I started to become interested in the protection of heritage buildings and had a preliminary understanding of the issues involved after I attended the 2017 TEDxSuzhou conference and listened to the speech of Professor RUAN Yisan, an expert in ancient architecture protection in China. To prepare for graduate study in Historic Preservation, while systematically studying architectural design, I also acquired knowledge in many interdisciplinary fields such as Chinese and foreign architectural history at the undergraduate level. I participated in research projects related to heritage preservation, as well.

In the past two years, I studied in Historic Preservation at Penn. I focused on Conservation Science and Preservation Design concentrations and also took Preservation Planning courses. In addition to completing the course study, I also completed the work of research assistant and teaching assistant and participated in an internship during the summer vacation. These two years are very impressive. I have learned a lot from all faculties and classmates and got a deeper understanding of Historic Preservation. After graduation, I hope to keep working on Historic Preservation and bring what I learned here into practice and my future career.
