Joseph Mathews

My time at Penn has given me a fresh perspective on who I am as a designer. My focus lies in the details and creation of atmosphere, where the experience and emotions are as important as any other aspect of a design. My recent works reflect a deep understanding of the connection between person and place. The relationships one has with physical spaces can be the basis in which we build up environments to empower and move people. Life experiences have taught me that there is much more wealth in exploring and a creating from what you know, and what you love. Personal passions within my last year have driven me to investigate every opportunity in the field of design where I may excel. This mindset and holistic approach to a design mentality could lead to world-building for something like games and film, working with designers to enhance our connection with our surroundings, or provide a conceptual framework for the future spatial necessities.
