Rachael L. Kulish

Rachael Kulish is graduating in May 2021 with a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design. A Midwesterner at heart, she grew up in South Dakota, but plans to stay in Philadelphia after graduation. Throughout her graduate career, she has focused on courses that explore new methodologies, crafted details, and emergent materials, allowing her to consider how best to elevate spatial experiences.

Prior to Penn, Rachael graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies with honors from the University of Missouri. After undergrad, she worked as a designer for Stantec in the Chicago Workplace office for two years until transitioning to pursue her masters.

During her time at Penn, she has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Charles Merrick Gay Scholarship for excellence in architectural construction and the realization of its relationship to design. For the last three years, Rachael has participated in the Weitzman Student Council, first as a GAPSA representative, then leading as Co-President in her final year where she has focused on helping student clubs realize their goals, sponsoring events, and developing inter-school partnerships.

Her time at UPenn has challenged her past assumptions and reshaped her perspectives, allowing her to view the future of the architectural profession as optimistic and hopeful. She’s excited to put to work the insights she has gained during her master’s tenure and thanks all the family, friends, and peers who have supported her on this endeavor.
