Yilin Ren

Yilin is a prospective architect and urban designer who is graduating in May 2021, with a Master of City Planning degree and Ecological Planning Certificate. Growing up in a beautiful and fast-developing multicultural city, Kunming, Yunnan, in Southwestern China, she found her passion for sustainable and dynamic public realm design early on. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech in 2018 and worked as an architect after graduation. She found that learning the relationship between architecture and its surrounding environment and social connections from another perspective was necessary. Yilin developed her interest and design skills in urbanism and ecological planning further in Penn. She enjoys promoting innovative and ambitious ideas into reasonable projects by diagramming and modeling with daily observations and efforts. Her works include Net Zero house design, building renovation, adaptive-reuse design, community revitalization, and urban framework design. She is ready and looking forward to her future career as an architect and urban designer in Shanghai, China!
