Madeleine Ghillany-Lehar

My work at Penn has been influenced by a particular interest in energy and climate infrastructure, and in projects that lean heavily on climate science, geology, and engineering. I am drawn to projects that have a tangible impact while challenging conventional notions of what is beautiful, urging visitors to find a deeper appreciation for often-invisible structures and processes that define their lives. I see the design of the built environment as central to the adaptation and resilience of human and other species during the climate crisis, and I am eager to advocate for Landscape Architecture as an essential ecological, cultural, aesthetic, and functional tool for initiating change.
