PennDesign is pleased to welcome David Hartt to the standing faculty in Fine Arts.
David Hartt is an artist and educator with extensive experience as an artist working with video and photography to engage research projects relating to anthropology, architectural history, and his own study of vernacular culture. In 2008, following his former career as a Director in design consultancies, he returned to his work as an artist. Since 2011 David has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and in the graduate program at Bard College. He has received numerous awards and fellowships and his work has exhibited and is included in a number of museums including the Museum of Modern Art, The Studio Museum in Harlem, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Art Gallery of Ontario Toronto, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburg. Reviews and essays on his work have been published in top art journals including the New Yorker, Art in Print, Artforum, New Art Examiner and Frieze Magazine. David will offer a section of Video II in both the fall and spring, and he will introduce a new studio course dealing with the intersections between film and architecture.
