Jia Yuan

Jia is a Master of City and Regional Planning student at Penn with a focus on smart cities and transportation planning. She is the Outreach lead for Penn’s International Planning and Development Club and the Member Education lead for Wharton Innovation & Design Club. While Jia’s interests in planning across multiple topics, she is specifically passionate about data-driven planning and the intersection of technology, sustainability and planning. Prior to graduate school, Jia graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Community, Environment, and Planning and worked as a Transportation Planner at City of Redmond on various public transit projects, such as the Sound Transit Light Rail East Link Extension. Jia’s vision is to use data and technology to better inform, facilitate, and streamline planning decision-making and community engagement processes. She enjoys weightlifting, traveling, and culinary experiments.
