Personal Statement:
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Mónica has been exposed to 500 years of historic architecture and heritage. During her training in architecture school she was first introduced to the Historic Preservation field while documenting a Spanish colonial Lazaretto in Goat’s Island. This experience led her to the University of Pennsylvania to further her interest in documentation and conservation. During her time at Penn, Mónica has exposed herself to all subjects regarding Preservation but has specialized in Documentation holding an internship with the Historic American Building Survey and conducting a thesis about documentation methods and data management at Taliesin West.
