The architectural design education I have received at the University of Pennsylvania has equipped me tremendously to command the challenges and responsibilities of the professional work environment that lies ahead. From pragmatic technical understanding to abstract creative exploration, Penn’s School of Design has provided me with a repertoire of skills to deploy as I transition into my professional career. The experiences I have had over the last few years have greatly shaped the way in which I think about design and challenged my understanding of what it means to be an architectural designer. The graduate degree program at the University of Pennsylvania has pushed me in ways I wouldn’t have expected and allowed me to grow substantially as both a student and an emerging design professional. One of the most valuable lessons I have taken from my graduate studies is that of patience and determination; that successful ideas emerge as a non-linear process of continued study, discussion, reflection, testing, and refinement.
