Empty Architecture // New Hybrids

We begin with a narrative, neither quite real nor quite fictional: “Large parts of New York’s financial district have been vacated due to COVID-19, resulting in several high-profile financial buildings to be left empty. Once heralded as symbols for American entrepreneurship and capitalism, these landmarks are now exposed as hollow, ideological artifacts lacking both real program and cultural significance.” How can these buildings be revitalized? What type of design strategy may trigger new potentialities and transform how we valorize architecture in the 21st century?
