Squares, Ovals, Traingles, and Bars 2.0: Critically Conceptualizing and Crafting Urban Public Space
The focus of this studio is the detailed physical design of a discrete piece of urban public space. The work endeavors to cultivate individual perspectives on the intellectual conceptualization and physical crafting of a legible space of social collection and public activity. Specifically, the studio engages with critical ideas around the occupation of public space, as well as its conceptual and physical making.
In this work we analytically discuss the implications of physical design propositions, rather than remaining content with the potentials of abstract design strategies. While the studio is highly structured in terms of its method and rhythm, the themes, agendas, preoccupations, and predilections of individual projects that emerge are at the sole discretion of studio participants.
