The Cyprus Studio: Landscapes of Reconciliation
This studio is looking at how to work on complex territorial, urban, socio-economic, political, environmental and cultural issues surrounding the Buffer Zone that separates the Turkish and Greek sides of Cypress.
The Cyprus Studio: Landscapes of Reconciliation provided an interdisciplinary cohort of students representing all five School of Design departments the opportunity to work on complex territorial, urban, socio-economic, political, environmental, and cultural issues. The projects proposed all weaved interconnected natural, urban, and social systems across and through sections of the Buffer Zone to create new connections and paradigms for a future unified island.
Studio participants traveled to Cypress to participate in a 2-day charette with Turkish and Greek Cypriot students to create strategies and plans to unite the two cultures.
