The Burning Gardens Event

Garden expos are more and more widespread worldwide. There are significant cultural events in many countries, where designers are involved in experimenting with ideas and concepts, and visitors experience more or less attractive spaces, more or less critical ideas, more or less innovative landscape concepts.

Based on these experiences, students must think and design a garden event called Burning Gardens, which takes inspiration from the famous Burning Man event.

The Burning Man event focuses on community, art, self-expression, and self-confidence; it has the main topic in burning a symbolic sizable wooden effigy called the Man. It has ten clear principles: radical inclusion, gifting, decommodification, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, participation, and immediacy.

However, the Burning Gardens Event is based on leaving metaphoric and symbolic traces for new landscape ideas: a way to investigate innovative/utopian design.
