Moving with the Flow
In this interdisciplinary studio, we explore the (in the long term) almost inevitable climate migration from the flood prone areas in the west of the Netherlands to higher elevations in the east. Can we prepare the ‘receiving communities’, the Dutch-German border region for the seemingly inevitable arrival of climate migrants, while addressing the local challenges of environmental degradation and increasing climate risk, in such a way that the current local population have agency and reap the benefits of this transformation? Can we prepare the ground by creating resilient, circular and inviting communities?
