Profile
Hometown: Jaipur, India
Education Background: Bachelor of Architecture
Degree Program: Master of City Planning, Concentration: Smart cities
How did you get interested in your field?
Ever since architecture school, I was interested in the urban sector; I wanted to approach urban problems at a larger scale. When I started working at the World Resources Institute in Mumbai, I was exposed to the myriad of problems on the urban scale and how city planning professionals were integral in solving them.
What was your background prior to coming to Penn?
I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Architecture in 2021 and practiced architecture in India. Just before coming to grad school, I worked at World Resources Institute on the Mumbai Climate Action Plan and Flooding related projects.
Why did you choose Penn?
Penn was on my radar for a while and the deciding factor for me was that it was the only school with a very data heavy urban analytics focus. The admissions staff and ambassadors were very resourceful and helpful and made this decision much easier for me.
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
One of the things that I love doing almost every weekend is going to the Farmer’s Market. The Clark Park is a beautiful place to unwind and relax and the farmer’s market each Saturday is an amazing place to not just shop fresh but often run into very interesting people. Oh, and the food here is great too.
What kinds of activities and/or organizations sare you involved in?
Owing to my love for food, I have recently inaugurated the Penn Food Club with my classmates to discuss food sustainability, production and recycling whilst hosting potlucks. For my on-campus jobs I am looking at mapping jazz histories within Philadelphia and helping develop a neighborhood plan for the New Freedom District.
What are your career ambitions?
I wish to work within the intersection of data, climate, and policy for non-profit organizations.
