Fabrication Lab

The Fabrication Lab serves as a practical laboratory extension of classroom theory. The Lab is equipped for all phases of woodworking, metalworking, and machining, as well as digital fabrication with CNC routing, laser cutting, and 3D printing. The lab is available to all University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design students and to all students enrolled in ancillary Weitzman courses.

The lab is directed by Dennis Pierattini. He and his staff welcome your design and fabrication related inquiries.

Safety Course

You must complete the online Lab Safety Course Module before you may use the Lab. Use this link to access the module in Workday. Please contact Dennis Pierattini with any questions concerning this training.  Representations of previous experience cannot be accepted in lieu of completion of this safety course.

Shop / Laser Hours

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 7:00pm
Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Saturday - Sunday: 11:00am - 6:00pm

CNC Milling / 3D Printing Hours

Please review the schedule posted in the Lab for current hours of operation.

 

Spring 2024

The lab will be open for student work starting on the first day of classes of the Spring 2024 semester, Thursday January 18th, 2024.  

Summer 2024

Throughout the Summer of 2024 the Fabrication Lab will be closed due to major construction.  Please contact Fable Maas (Fabrication Lab Manager) at kmaas@upenn.edu and Toren Falck (Digital Fabrication Manager) at falckt@upenn.edu to discuss any concerns.
