Profile
How did you get interested in your field?
I have never been good at traditional education, so design was the thing I excelled in. This lead
me to have interests and pursue art and design. However, I wanted to have a larger scale effect
on the world through design and architecture gave me this outlet.
What was your background prior to coming to Penn?
I am originally from Houston, Texas and went to Texas A&M University with a major in environmental design and a minor in product design.
Why did you choose Penn?
I chose Penn because the work I saw I found very compelling and I wanted a program that I
could be challenged and learn the most in. I knew that I wanted to live on the East Coast and
liked the idea of living in a urban place that was opposite from my environment growing up.
What has been your favorite class so far?
My favorite class here was visual studies, it really gave me a chance to experiment with
representation and have fun with design outside of studio. Also, the chance to work with so
many great professors like Nate Hume, Brian DeLuna, and Daniel Markiewicz was very exciting
and taught me a lot.
What are you learning right now that will help you in the future?
Professional Practice with Phillip Ryan is one of the classes right now where each class I am
learning new and interesting stuff for the entire time. He is a very engaging and so insightful
into how to run and work at architecture firms, it is invaluable information and I feel very lucky to
receive it.
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
I love the older row houses of west Philly, they are so colorful and each one has its own quirky
feature.
What kinds of activities and/or organizations are you involved in?
I have been a TA through my time here and have genuinely enjoyed it. I love making connections
through the years here and sharing things I have learned in my time.
What are your career ambitions?
I want to one day own a firm with a partner and do smaller projects in the East Coast.
