Biography
Harry Francis Mallgrave received his PhD in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 with a dissertation on Gottfried Semper. Over the course of his career his has worked as an architect, editor, translator, teacher, and historian. In the last capacity he has authored more than a dozen books, and his current one, in the final stages of completion, is entitled Theory and Design in the Age of Biology: Reflections on the 'Art' of Building. Currently he is a professor of history and theory at Illinois Institute of Technology, which he is also the director of International Center for Sustainable New Cities.
