Urban policy conflicts over where to build housing, how to allocate public space and how to adapt to economic change are fundamentally spatial in nature. They involve questions of sharing space, connecting resources across space, and redefining how space should be used. New York Times journalist Emily Badger will talk about how she and her colleagues tell these stories, using data analysis, maps, interactive visuals and words.
Emily Badger is a domestic correspondent at The New York Times, where she writes about cities and urban policy for The Upshot. She's particularly interested in housing, transportation and inequality — and how they're all connected. She joined the Times in 2016 from The Washington Post and is based in the Washington, D.C. bureau.
This event is co-hosted with the Urban Tech Club.
