General Questions
Q: Why can’t I plot?
A: There are a few reasons why you may not be able to plot.
- You have not completed the plotting tutorial, or plotting permissions have not been granted to your Design account.
- You are trying to print from an external device such as a USB storage or web page. Save the file locally and attempt to print again.
- If your file has not been formatted properly and is flattened, it could cause errors in the printer or not print at all.
- you are trying to print a jpg. Jpg formats typically do not print on the plotters. You may end up with a printed error code or no print at all.
Q: Can I print on my own paper on the plotter?
A: We have one plotter in Meyerson Hall called the T1700 Manual. You are able to print on your own sheet paper here. Please check with ithelp@design.upenn.edu of you have any specific questions on what paper may or may not be allowed to use on this machine.
Q: Can I use my own media in the laser printers?
A: Only if you consult first with IT Staff, and then only if the media is laser certified; non-certified media may catch fire.
Q: The font(s) I selected in my document aren’t printing correctly! Why?!
A: In some cases, this is due to a license issue, and in others, because the font is not available on the machine. We do have a work-around that also results in significantly faster printing
