Marking the 55th anniversary of the publication of Ian McHarg's landmark 1969 book Design With Nature, this exhibitionbrings together dynamic and visionary approaches to landscape architecture from around the world, traces the development of McHarg's ecological approach to design, and takes visitors to his native Glasgow, Scotland, in a series of meditations on place and time by landscape architect Lauren McSherry.
The exhibition is curated by Richard Weller, co-founder of The McHarg Center and professor emeritus of landscape architecture; Fritz Steiner, Dean and Paley Professor, and co-executive director, The McHarg Center; Karen M’Closkey, associate professor of landscape architecture; and Billy Fleming, Wilks Family Director, The McHarg Center. The presentation in Nanjing was overseen by Tong Ming, professor of architecture at Southeast University and principal of Studio TM, in collaboration with William Whitaker, curator and collections manager, Architectural Archives at Penn.
Presented by The Ian L. McHarg Center for Urbanism & Ecology in partnership with the School of Architecture, Southeast University.
Original support for Design With Nature Now was provided by The Pew Center for Art & Heritage, Philadelphia.
