Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla have been collaborating since 1995, exploring ideas of authorship, nationality, borders, democracy, and global society. They utilize sculpture, photography, video, performance, and sound to create metaphors and experiments that explore the relationship between an object and its meaning. They have shown internationally, including representing the USA at the 2011 Venice Biennale, and participated in numerous residencies including PS1, and a DAAD residency. Jennifer Allora was born in Philadelphia, received her MS from MIT in 2003, and Guillermo Calzadilla was born in Havana, Cuba and received his MFA from Bard College in 2001.
