Penn Ph.D. Student Blends Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation and Ethics
The Graduate Program in Historic Preservation is pleased to share this recent Penn News story on Kasey Diserens (MSHP’13). Kasey is now an anthropology Ph.D. student in Penn's School of Arts & Sciences and the story highlights her recent work on community based heritage preservation in the town of Tihosuco, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Bisotun, in western Iran’s Kermanshah province, is notable for its inscription carved on a limestone cliff. "It is unique, being the only known monumental text of the Achaemenids to document a specific historic event, that of the re-establishment of the empire by Darius I the Great," according to UNESCO.
