Patch Weekend is a scheduled maintenance period that occurs once a month for Weitzman faculty and staff. During this time, Weitzman ITS ensures that all desktops and laptops owned by the school receive necessary security patches to maintain IT policy compliance. An email is always sent out prior to Patch Weekend to inform users of the upcoming maintenance, which requires computer reboots. This process helps keep all Weitzman-owned devices secure and up to date.
During this maintenance, users may see the following message indicating that updates will be installed: "Weitzman School of Design Updates will be installed. Updates are about to be installed. Please save any work and leave your device on and connected."
Users will be prompted to save their work before the updates are installed. The action request will have a deadline of 5 days after it is initially shown. If the deadline is reached, users will be forced to respond to the action request. No further messages will be shown while running this action.
