How did you get interested in your field?
I’ve always been interested in building but my first real exposure to architecture was in my first-year seminar course at Colgate. While just an introductory course, my professor’s passion for the subject confirmed my own interest in the field.
What was your background prior to coming to Penn?
I’m originally from Houston Texas but moved to upstate New York to study economics at Colgate University. While there, I was a member of the varsity rowing team for four years.
Why did you choose Penn?
I choose Penn because of its historic standing as a top architecture program in the country and the many resources available to students.
What has been your favorite class so far?
The first-year structures course with Richard Farley has been my favorite. He is an amazing teacher and all-around fantastic person.
What are you learning right now that will help you in the future?
In addition to learning about design in new and interesting ways, I’m gaining valuable experience with time management and project management in general.
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
The people. I’ve met some wonderful people in the last year who have helped make the transition to Philly smooth.
What kinds of activities and/or organizations are you involved in?
I’m the vice president of finance for student council.
What are your career ambitions?
My goal is to become a registered architect and eventually lead my own firm.
