Hometown: Sacramento, CA
Education Background: Bachelor of Architecture, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
How did you get interested in your field?
I became interested in landscape architecture a few years into my architecture degree. I felt that there was so much more to be learned about landscape design and how it interacts with architecture. I also love being outdoors and learning new things about the natural world we live in.
What was your background prior to coming to Penn?
Before Penn I studied architecture for five years at Cal Poly Pomona. After graduating, I worked at a small residential landscape architecture design+build office for a couple of years.
Why did you choose Penn?
I chose Penn because of their focus on the intersections between design, ecology, and environmental justice. I also felt a sense of belonging, open-mindedness, and respect from the Weitzman community on first impression, and I love Philadelphia
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
I have been loving being able to commute by bike and getting to know the art/fiber arts community of Philly. I also love that there is nature and city so close together.
What are your career ambitions?
I hope one day I can be involved in community projects and contribute to architecture/landscape architecture in a way that moves us towards climate resilience.
