Judy E. Venonsky is an Associate and Registered Landscape Architect at OLIN where she serves as Living Systems Specialist and the leader of OLIN EcoLab.
She graduated with a Master of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning from University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and has been with OLIN since graduating. At OLIN, she has worked on key projects that deal with the intersection of built landscape and complex living systems. Key projects include Pier 26 in Manhattan, and the planting design of over 175 acres of native species for Apple Park, the tech giant’s corporate headquarters in California. as well as projects in India, and China where she has lectured on U.S. horticultural practices to Chinese nursery growers.
Judy also leads EcoLab, a living systems design research & practice team that is part of OLIN LABS,
Outside of professional practice, Judy co-teaches Workshop II at Weitzman School of Design, and at Temple University’s Master of Landscape Architecture program, a prerequisite course in landscape history and theory, “Aesthetics of Ecological Planting Design.”
Judy has given numerous talks at ASLA conferences including “Integrating Ecology and Technology for Beneficial Impact” presenting co-research on the potential for modelling natural systems with parametric design by creating a common language between the two disciplines. She is also a board member of Plant Agents Collective, Inc., a 501(c)(3), a non-profit focusing on connecting consumers to native plant producers nationwide.
