Parima Kotanut is a licensed architect and a research assistant from Thailand. She received a BArch degree from Silpakorn University (2016) and MSArch from University of Pennsylvania (2022). After graduation, she worked as an assistant in the Architectural Archives at the University of Pennsylvania; and is currently working as a research assistant focusing on investigating the living quality of Bangkok Housing Development during the 1990s-2000s and tradition Thai houses on different regions in Thailand. Apart from her interests in architectural history and theory, spatial quality in architecture and culture of collecting and preserving built environment, she spends her leisure time on drawing buildings and landscape, and dressmaking.
Why did you choose the MS program at PENN and what has it allowed you to achieve educationally?
"My primary intention on pursuing an MSArch degree was to expand my interest from designing and making architecture to reading, writing, and speaking about architecture. But the flexibility of the program had allowed me to engage with intellectuals from other disciplines both inside and outside school of architecture."
