Hometown: Long Beach, CA Education Background: Bachelors of Fine Arts: Sculpture
How did you get interested in your field?
Admittedly, I stumbled upon Landscape Architecture while I was in the middle of an MFA program during the pandemic. The direction I kept trying to explore with large scale installation was more in line with L.A. practices and my MFA mentor encouraged me to switch.
What was your background prior to coming to Penn?
My background is deep rooted in sculpture; exploring the experience of material and light.
Why did you choose Penn?
The LARP program is one of the top in the country.
What has been your favorite class so far?
My favorite class is one that I am currently taking, it is a speculative narrative design studio that is situated in a post-capitalist Tokyo Bay in 2050.
What are you learning right now that will help you in the future?
I am learning how to be a story teller through design. We need to be able to evoke feeling and lure our audience with our designs and delivery is 80% of the battle.
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
It is a small, big city with great culture and food.
What kinds of activities and/or organizations are you involved in?
Weitzman Gardners Club
American Society of Landscape Architecture Student Chapter President
Student Council [StuCo] LARP Representative
What are your career ambitions?
I am still deciding but I am considering government work or private firm.
