On May 28-29 the Weitzman School of Design hosted the annual professor's meeting of the Precast Concrete Institute (PCI) and the PCI Foundation, which funds the Architecture Department's work with the material. Newly titled for this meeting, the Professor's Conference, the event was organized by Lecturer Richard Garber and included faculty presentations by Garber, Assistant Professor and Director of the MSD-RAS Program Robert Stuart-Smith, Assistant Professor Dorit Aviv, and Associate Professor Masoud Akbarzadeh, as well as students who participated in Garber's spring design studio.
Following the Wednesday afternoon session in the Kleinman Center, attendees participated on Thursday morning in a plant tour of Penn's industry partner Northeast Precast (NEP). At the plant, attendees saw the large precast panels Weitzman Architecture students have produced with NEP, and recent graduates Amy Koenig ('24) and Danny Jarabek ('24) presented their work from Garber's Matter, Making, and Testing seminar.
