Greetings from your Penn Weitzman Alumni Association (PWAA),
Although this year has been indelibly marked by unprecedented upheaval, the promises of hope and change are ushered in with this new academic year. While our current students must contend with the challenges brought on by new health and safety measures, our students are well equipped to use their set of skills to literally “think outside of the box”; engaging in creative thought that embraces the moment, and not shy away from it. And while our students, many of those who identify as black, brown or a person of color and/or identify as LGBTQ+ have had, and continue to confront issues of discrimination, it is our goal as an association to be a source of community and respect. We can no longer listen, we must act. We must support the most vulnerable of our community in their academics and their professional lives.
This new academic year is a new guiding point. Our school has a historic legacy in the disciplines offered, and our school continues to offer an education steeped in these important traditions while allowing for critical innovation that is more reflective of and appropriate for our current moment. And this year will continue with the intermingling of those traditions and innovations.
The Penn Weitzman Alumni Association is here to be a partner in this new year. Our organization has always been committed to supporting the aims of our school, supporting engaging opportunities for our students, and reaching the wider national and global alumni community. As our association grows with more graduates each year, it is important that we all remain committed to the fundamental goals of supporting each other, especially in times such as these where established community is most necessary. This is a unique opportunity to further donate to, volunteer for, and grow our network.
On behalf of the entire board of the Penn Weitzman Alumni Association, we look forward to seeing and working with you in the upcoming year!
