The $50,000 iDesign Prize is a competition presented by the Integrated Product Design program--an intiative of the School of Design, School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the Wharton School--promoting the design of physical objects that solve a real world problem.
The iDesign Prize was conceived four years ago to give Penn student-led teams the opportunity to successfully launch an innovative physical product that solves a real-world problem and is supported by a holistic design, engineering and business plan. So far, the prize has accelerated the launch of Burrow, a new modular sofa; Lilu, a revolutionary pumping bra; and SafeStamp, a security tag for medication packaging.
Come to see this year's finalists pitch their proposals to a jury of entrepreneurs and investors. In addition to the $50,000 top award, this year's competition features a $5,000 People's Choice Award for the audience favorite.
The final elimination round will be judged by: Jordan Goldstein, Managing Director & Principal Gensler & Associates, Karl Ulrich, Vice Dean of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the CIBC Professor of Entrepreneurship and e-Commerce at the Wharton School, Holly Flanagan, Managing Director, Gabriel Investments; and Jeff Smith, Co-Founder and Senior Advisor at Lunar.
The iDesign Prize is generously supported by alumni and PennDesign Overseers Jay Abramson (W’83, L’86), Laurence Goldberg (W’89), Mason Haupt (W’77) and Kevin Penn (W’83).
