The MSD-AAD Meet the Building Experts Lecture Series Presents: Rossana Hu
Rossana Hu co-founded Neri&Hu Design and Research Office with Lyndon Neri in 2004, an inter-disciplinary architectural design practice based in Shanghai, China. Through her practice, Hu has reinforced a core vision: to respond to a global worldview incorporating overlapping design disciplines for a critical paradigm in architecture, while believing strongly in research as a design tool, as each project bears its unique set of contextual issues.
Hu was appointed as the John C. Portman Design Critic in Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2019, and received the distinguished Norman R. Foster Visiting Professor Chair at Yale School of Architecture in 2018.
Hu is also the Founding Partner and Creative Executive of Design Republic in Shanghai, a design platform incorporating retail concept, design/cultural exhibitions and education. In 2015, Hu was appointed as the Creative Director of Stellar Works, and has served on the International Advisory Board of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra since 2018.
Hu and her firm have received a distinguished list of international awards spanning the fields of architecture, interior design, industrial design, and graphic design: the Madrid Design Award (2020); The Blueprint Overall Award for Design (2019); The PLAN Award (2018); EDIDA Designers of the Year (2017); Designer of the Year of Iconic Awards by German Design Council (2017); Maison & Objet Asia Designers of the Year (2015); UK Wallpaper* Designers of the Year (2014); US Interior Design Hall of Fame induction (2013); UK Architectural Review Awards for Emerging Architecture (2010); and US Architectural Record’s Design Vanguards (2009).
The Master of Science in Design: Advanced Architecture Design (MSD-AAD) program at the Weitzman School of Design is hosting six Building Expert talks by practitioner-educators whose design work and buildings serves as exemplary in the discipline of architecture.
