Please join us for a special Resume & Portfolio Review Workshop sponsored by architecture firm FXCollaborative for Weitzman students and recent graduates. Our guests will discuss how to craft an effective portfolio and resume: how to get the maximum result, what to include, how to captivate your unique personality and experience, and how to grab the reviewer’s attention in 2 minutes. They will give tips on how to prepare effective and compelling materials and show examples of Do’s and Don’ts. Registration is required for this event.

Moderator: Soany Marquez is a designer, artist, and activist who has always been interested in architecture as a form of activism and artistic expression. Born in Honduras, she is constantly pushing boundaries  in her education focusing on diversity and inclusivity for women. She is a recent graduate from the City College of New York where she received her Bachelor’s in Architecture and former member of NOMAS (National Organization of Minority Architecture Students). In college, she was twice awarded the Castagna scholarship that allowed her to study abroad and expand her global perspective of architecture. As a first-generation Honduran graduate, she feels underrepresented in the architecture field because of the lack of Latin American mentors, professors, and colleagues. She is aware that architecture can be a powerful tool to pave the wave for social reform, and one of her many goals is to bring more diversity and inclusion for Latinas into the architecture profession.

Gavet Douangvichit, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is an architect at FXCollaborative, a New York City-based architecture, interiors, and planning design firm. She currently serves as Project Architect and Project Manager for a mixed-use, multi-family residential building under construction in Manhattan, and is co-founder and co-chair of FXMosaic, the firm’s employee resource group focused on cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity. In her role with FXMosaic, Gavet has presented in panels with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) about the benefits of employee resource groups. Gavet holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan, and is a registered architect in New York.

Shannon Rodriguez, LEED GA, is Human Resources Director at FXCollaborative, an architecture, interiors, and planning design firm based in New York City. With over 15 years of experience, she is responsible for performance management, mentoring and training programs, employee relations, recruiting, staffing, and benefits administration. Shannon is also responsible for the firm’s internship program, providing opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds, and has been instrumental in establishing FXCollaborative’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. As a member of the AIA Large Firm Round Table, Shannon takes part in cross-industry dialogue about the future of architecture, delving into the nuts and bolts of benefits as well as affirmative action and recruiting. Shannon is an advocate for all employees to foster and strengthen our community of vibrant and diverse voices.
