This course introduces students to the design, programming, and fabrication of embedded interactive systems within architectural assemblies. Through hands-on experimentation, students will prototype and assemble electronic circuits using sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers to create systems that respond to dynamic stimuli. A series of exercises will build foundational knowledge in control systems, data logging, feedback, and networking, alongside techniques for integrating electronic components into physical design objects. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on developing workflows that bridge digital logic and material expression. Students will apply these skills to develop original projects that explore how responsive systems can shape architectural form, behavior, and experience. The course aims to expand the possibilities of architectural expression by encouraging experimentation with responsive systems and their ability to produce dynamic, interactive effects.
