Marking the 55th anniversary of the publication of Ian McHarg's landmark 1969 book Design With Nature, this exhibitionbrings together dynamic and visionary approaches to landscape architecture from around the world, traces the development of McHarg's ecological approach to design, and takes visitors to his native Glasgow, Scotland, in a series of meditations on place and time by landscape architect Lauren McSherry.
The exhibition is curated by Richard Weller, co-founder of The McHarg Center and professor emeritus of landscape architecture; Fritz Steiner, Dean and Paley Professor, and co-executive director, The McHarg Center; Karen M’Closkey, associate professor of landscape architecture; and Billy Fleming, Wilks Family Director, The McHarg Center.
The presentation in Taipei inaugurates a new partnership between the Weitzman School and Taipei City Government and the Taiwan Institute of Landscape Architects (TILA), and overseen by William Whitaker, curator and collections manager, Architectural Archives at Penn.
Original support for Design With Nature Now was provided by The Pew Center for Art & Heritage, Philadelphia.
