We’re looking forward to a sunny weekend! Philadelphia has a vibrant and unique network of community gardens and shared open spaces and tomorrow is Community Gardens Day. From 10 am to 2 pm, 60 gardens will offer an array of activities to celebrate summer’s arrival. Here are a few:
• Kick off Community Gardens Day with a celebration at the Community Garden at Ralph Brooks Park at 10:30 am. The event will honor three community garden heroes, including former Philadelphia Eagle, Connor Barwin, and the Make the World Better Foundation.
• Participate in a beehive demo, face painting and edible forest tours at Corinthian Gardens.
• Join Queen Memorial Library at Federal Street Garden for story time, crafts, snacks and fun! • Explore gardens at your own pace on self-guided tours in Northern Liberties and Point Breeze.
• Bring your best dance moves to Brewerytown Garden and Concert Garden for garden BBQs and music! • Participate in a cooking demonstration at Urban Tree Connection’s Neighborhood Food Farm.
You can check out the participating garden map, activities list, self-guided tour maps and guided tour registration here.
